Mathieu Myrick

Mathieu Myrick (he/him) was born and raised in Texas. Growing up in Bryan, Texas and moving to the DFW for college and the pandemic. He received his BA in theatre from the University of North Texas and his MFA from Brown University/ Trinity Rep

He was introduced to the stage at 4 years old at, what was then, a tiny community theatre called “The Theatre Company” in Bryan (it has since become a cultural phenomenon and he takes pride in its growth). There he used to do plays with his parents and sisters. He has a very theatrically inclined family, but he was the only one that decided to make a career out of it.

In 2023 he was admitted into the Brown/Trinity MFA program, making him the first in his family to attend an Ivy League school, but more importantly allowing him to chase his dreams. Originating characters in “Kingdom” by Kathy Ng, “Pardiso” by jimmy Fae, “Money Shot” by Dari Noel, during the Brown University Writing is Live Festival. He had his Trinity Rep Debut in the world premiere of Ro Reddicks “Cold War Choir Practice”. And Trinity Reps 2026 production of“A Winters Tale.”

“Theatre, to me, is a way to take a step back and breathe for a second. Life moves fast, and it’s full of things that make us angry or get us off center. But when I’m in a theatre, or a rehearsal process or I see a great show, it feels like the world stops for a second…I know I can give that feeling to others. I will create these liminal spaces between everything and nothing, and give my collaborators and audiences (and myself) a break from the mess. I will take a step back, I’ll take a deep breath, and I will stop the world with my bare hands.”
